Das Racist at High Noon Saloon
More Just Announced
If you wrote off Das Racist following “Combination Pizza Hut/Taco Bell,” you’re not alone, and you’re not necessarily wrong. But in the time since they went viral, Kool A.D. and Heems have released two of the most inventive, wild, unruly, verbose rap mix-tapes of recent memory (Shut Up, Dude and Sit Down, Man), and this September, they will finally start trying to get paid for their recorded music with the release of Relax, their debut LP, on Heems’ own Greedhead record label.
We bring this to your attention because Das Racist will be at the High Noon Saloon Oct. 19, supporting Relax and its just-released, bonkers single “Michael Jackson.” (The chorus goes: “Michael Jackson, a million dollars.”) The group’s live shows can border on performance art—like the group is deconstructing and parodying a live hip-hop show—thanks to Heems and Kool A.D.’s staunch refusal to do anything straight-facedly onstage. Decide for yourself this October. Tickets go on sale on Aug. 4.
