Daytrotter to host pumpkin-patch and corn-maze frolic/show at Treinen Farm
On its recent, quaintly concevied "Barnstormer" tour of Midwestern barns, Illinois independent-music site Daytrotter declined to take advantage of the Madison area's many farms, instead setting up several bands for a show in a downtown attic. On its second Barnstormer tour (dubbed "Barnstormier"), the Daytrotter folks plan to rectify this, bringing Dawes, Christopher Denny, Suckers, and Maritime to nearby Lodi for an Oct. 9 show at Treinen Farm, which features a pumpkin patch and a renowned corn maze. All the bands involved have of course done exclusive sessions down at Daytrotter's Rock Island, Ill., studio, and the corn maze--in the shape of a mermaid--just seems to go with Daytrotter's adorably ramshackle approach to art. (Again with the hearts flying out of dudes' mouths!) So, in short: a chance to get out of the city, check out some music, pick pumpkins, and get lost 'mid the corn. If only every day of fall were like this.
