Saturday afternoons in February are often best spent battening down the hatches and not doing much of anything. But for those willing to brave the elements, it is possible to take a journey to do little but eat chili, drink beer, and listen to live music. This sloth-lined path leads directly to the East Side Club’s chili cook-off on Saturday, Feb. 27, which will reward your travels with warmth and deliciousness in your belly. Doors (and bar) open at 10 a.m., and judging starts at 1 p.m. For only $0.25 per cup, attendees can sample and cast a vote for one the 15 chilis fighting to be the top pot. On the feeling-good-about-yourself side of things, proceeds go to support the East Side Business Men’s Association scholarship fund, a local institution helping Madison students pay for college for over 30 years. Please note: Beano is not included.
Fatsometer: 5. Seeing that there will be 15 different chilis to choose from, it’s likely that not all of them will be con carne.
