When a grilling event is called the Greener Wiener, one has to show the utmost restraint to keep the dick jokes at bay. We’ll do our best, but we are only human. On Saturday, June 18, (11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.) the Willy Street Co-op West will host a cookout. The schlong, er, schtick, is that it’s a hot dog grill session using Wisconsin products only. Black Earth meats and Yves meatless hot dogs will be on deck for grilling. Those tender, hot, and bursting with ballpark flavor franks are to be served on Classen buns with kraut and Hawkwind mustard from Baraboo, if so desired, and rice and beans from the Co-op deli on the side. To slake thirst, howzabout a cold and tasty Sprecher root beer? $5 for all that makes it quite a deal, and to sweeten the punch, proceeds go to Dream Bikes, an organization that helps young people to get job experience while providing access to quality bikes for those in need.
FATSOMETER: 6. These are not the huge Nigel Tufnel fantasy sizes, so it isn’t an overly indulgent affair, unlike the recent activities of a certain congressman. But posting pics of these wieners to Twitter is totally okay.
