Heartless Bastards at the Memorial Union

More Just Announced
Last time the howling blues of Heartless Bastards came to Madison, it stomped a mudhole into the Overture Center stage before a packed house that had come to see The Decemberists. The band has a much better chance of stomping a literal mudhole when it stops by again this summer with Peter Wolf Crier, since the soft shore of Lake Mendota will be mere feet away when it plays the Memorial Union on July 25. Not to take anything away from PWC, a great Minneapolis-based duo (Peter Pisano of The Wars Of 1812 and Brian Moen of Laarks) that glazes a nice lo-fi crust over its hearty folk trudge; but The A.V. Club really liked last year’s The Mountain and we can’t wait to hear Erika Wennerstrom's distinct voice and the rest of the Bastards’ thunderous set cut through the open air.
