Kings Go Forth and Budos Band lend soul power to the Terrace's summer lineup
The Budos Band
More Just Announced
The Memorial Union's music bookers announced a handful of shows this afternoon that will grace the Terrace over the next few months, and the standouts include two big, funky ensembles. Milwaukee band Kings Go Forth, who brought a blistering R&B revue to the Terrace last year, return on June 19 behind The Outsiders Are Back, their first album for David Byrne's Luaka Bop label; and The Budos Band, an Afrobeat-leaning member of the Daptone family, is set for a July 2 show. Also in the funk department is a June 26 show from Steez, a Madison band that has long referred to its music as "creep funk." Speaking of which, other local bands headed to the Terrace include Stukenberg (May 15), Western-swing band North Country Drifters (May 21), Crystal Corner country regulars Brown Derby (later on May 21), and The Nod (July 3). The Terrace crowd is likely to be split into dancing and grumpy factions when Nashville's noisy garage-pop outfit Jeff The Brotherhood plays on June 25.
