Wares: Pure maple syrup in dainty glass containers and gallon jugs, maple butter, and sweet maple candy.
The source: Highland, Wis.
Best deal: Two pieces of maple candy shaped like a pilgrim man and his goodly wife ($1.75).
Weirdest item: Syrup in a Statue Of Liberty-shaped bottle.
Serving suggestion: Halmuth Krause says the ginseng he sells is handy for crushing up into teas and chicken soup. "They call it the poor man's Viagra," he adds. "I don't know about that."
Find it at: Dane County Farmers' Market, Saturday, 6am-2pm, Capitol Square, through Nov. 8.
