Lil Wayne is a grown-ass man, won’t give up on Brett Favre

Despite the presence of Kid Rock, Lady Antebellum, Maroon 5, and the pancake-makeup-ensconced visage of Bob Costas, the Green Bay Packers pulled off a thrilling win last night against the New Orleans Saints. Joining in the post-game revelry was none other than recording artist/crazy person Lil Wayne, who has long been a fan of the Green and Yellow, er, Gold. So what makes Wayne such a Packers backer? Not Aaron Rodgers, not the team’s epic Super Bowl win, and not even Clay Matthews’ “long hair don’t care” ’tude. No, Wayne still harbors some love for… Brett Favre?

In an interview with XXL, Weezy delightfully explains why he’ll never give up on the ol’ gunslinger:

Who’s my favorite football player after Brett Favre? That’s my favorite football player. I ain’t got no other favorite football player! I’m a grown ass man. You don’t just jump to another nigga; ‘oh that’s my favorite now!’ Nah nigga, that’s my favorite football player; Brett Favre. Ain’t no other nigga could fuck with him.

Of course, Favre hasn’t played for the Packers since 2007, and appears to have finally—finally!—traded in his cup for a snug pair of Wranglers. Still, there’s something to be said for sticking with a fallen hero through thick and thin, and being a grown-ass man about it. So kudos, Lil Wayne. Your devotion to a faded icon is an inspiration to us all, especially those of us not fazed by the occasional unsolicited wang-shot.
