Limited edition Hometapes mixtape contains new All Tiny Creatures single featuring Justin Vernon

Justin Vernon has been busy with guest appearances lately. But on “An Iris,” the new single from Madison’s All Tiny Creatures appearing on Portland, OR label Hometapes An Iris Mixtape, Vernon’s presence sounds more like an organic force than just some touring guest.

ATC leader Thomas Wincek (who also works with Collections Of Colonies Of Bees) collaborated with Vernon to form last year’s esteemed Volcano Choir, so his résumé for ghostly, harrowing chorales checks out—but “An Iris” is probably less ethereal than many would think. The guitars are played with such immediacy and the rolling drums are so precise that even the looped harmonies sound like they’re in a hurry to get somewhere.

ATC will be selling the limited-pressing (250) mixtape on tour—unfortunately no Madison dates right now—but fans can still nab the tape soon via the Hometapes website. The label is planning on releasing ATC’s upcoming full-length, Harbors, next year.
