More Just Announced

It's pretty easy to let the shit-talk reflex kick in at the mere mention of Marc Cohn’s name. He’s an adult-contemporary artist, his song “Walking In Memphis” was completely ubiquitous throughout the ’90s (though even today, it still stands on pretty sturdy legs), and he was introduced to his wife at the U.S. Open by Andre Agassi, which are all fairly gag-worthy credentials. But he’s also a thoughtful writer, accomplished musician, and official badass after surviving being shot in the head during a car-jacking in 2005. So The A.V. Club will resist the shit-talk and admit that his Aug. 7 show at the Overture Center is a pretty worthwhile announcement.
