Mastodon and High On Fire set to punish Madison
Mastodon
More Just Announced
Madison can brag about having some good homegrown metal, but that doesn't mean the earth fails to shake when the "skye" cracks open and news of two unbelievable metal shows trickles down Blood Mountain. And how the ground will rumble when Atlanta's Mastodon pummels the Orpheum Theatre May 18 with tales of wormholes, tree men, and great white whales. Joining them will be fellow Georgian melodic mashers Baroness, extraterrestrial annihilators Valient Thorr, and cerebral shredders Between The Buried And Me—all threatening to max out the awesome show-o-meter. But before all of this comes to pass, recent Mastodon tourmates High On Fire will bury the High Noon Saloon under punishing waves of sludge on April 1 with help from Priestess' scorching straight-ahead heaviness. Jesus, how much metal can one Midwestern city take? I guess we'll soon find out, but The A.V. Club wouldn't be surprised if Beelzebub himself ascended from the hellfire and wanted to tip a few at The Wisco before taking in all this madness.
