Meet the Truck$top Girlfriend flyer that Facebook had to remove
More Press Yourself
The A.V. Club has been tipping the scales of the gross-out meter toward “Yuck!” lately, what with pieces on human cheese and urine drinking, and we apologize to any readers that don’t share our disgusting sense of humor. Regardless of that, those important touchstones of modern journalism will always be allowed to stand according our great country’s first amendment. So we were surprised when the (admittedly gross) flyer for a Feb. 2 show at the The Frequency featuring Truck$top Girlfriend and Fambly Fun! (two groups we’ll be looking into Friday on this site) was taken down from Facebook over the weekend. Marc Claggett of TG (and Projection People and Cemetery Improvement Society) kindly e-mailed us the original.

Sure it looks like it’s profane, but upon careful inspection, the flyer reveals itself rather as an interesting, barf-inducing piece of Photoshop magic featuring a grill-wearing, goatee-enshrouded mouth. In the e-mail, Claggett a.k.a. Unkle Salty went on to further explain how he had received e-mail warnings from Facebook.
“The whole point of these is to get people’s attention; I guess it’s working. Tryin’ to censor me? That’s why we’re like a modern day 2 Live Crew bitches!”
Sadly, for the sake of promoting the show, he was forced to post this clean version.

It gets the job done, but at what cost? Our freedom?
