Watching bands pay tribute to other bands has become a highly enjoyable Halloween tradition for all involved. The A.V. Club personally can’t wait for this year’s crop, but Mickey’s Tavern is offering respite tonight in the form of a pre-Halloween cover show bash, and it looks like it’s going to be a doozy. Members of The Midwest Beat, The Goodnight Loving, Mystery Girls, and Sugar Stems will be playing as The Velvet Underground and members of Sticks N Stones and Holy Shit! will be playing as The Sweet (or Sweet, if you will). It was pretty nice of Milwaukee to give up so many of its awesome bands for this show. Plus Matt Joyce will open the show, and it’s free. It’s good time to get an early start on the tricks and treats.
