Muzzle Of Bees and various Wisconsin artists create a tribute to Wilco’s Summerteeth

Milwaukee blog Muzzle Of Bees may not have the authority to make the members of Wilco honorary citizens of the Brew City, but it has managed to throw together a far less pointless tribute in the form of Wisco: A Wisconsin Tribute To Wilco’s Summerteeth. The compilation features 15 artists taking on the band’s seminal 1999 album. Bees’ owner Ryan Matteson has stretched across the state and snatched up a handful of Madisonian bands for the project, which is available for download, either for free or for an optional donation that will go straight to the Wisconsin Humane Society. For Wisco, Matteson has tapped into the safe bets of local folk-rockers like Blueheels (“ELT”), Jeremiah Nelson And The Arrogant Derelicts (“She’s A Jar”), and Flight (“When You Wake Up Feeling Old”), and ex—Smart-Studios engineer Justin Perkins for mastering. This may not be a key to the city, but it should give local fans something to sink their fangs into while waiting for Jeff Tweedy and co. to drop a new album.
