Of Montreal plays borderline-insane psychedelic pop and commandeers live shows that have been known to include a real horse onstage, copious body paint, and lots of writhing around (even some full-frontal nudity). The records aren’t half-bad either, with last year’s False Priest continuing the band’s solid run of releases. But yeah, it goes without saying that this is one of the best live shows on the planet right now. That should make for quite a spectacle when the band serves as musical ambassador to the new Union South on April 15, playing to a 1500 capacity crowd in Varsity Hall.
Tickets go on sale Feb. 15 at 11:30 p.m. through the UW box office for students only. If any tickets remain after that, they will be made available to the public starting Feb. 23 at 11:30 a.m. But these tickets will probably go fast, so you’d better think about commandeering a student or quickly enrolling if you want some.
