Of Montreal tour documentary Family Nouveau to screen Saturday at Project Lodge
It definitely gets weirder from here.
More Just Announced
It's been a few years since Of Montreal visited Madison in person with its hopelessly tangled lyrics, trashy-wonderful pop, and onstage horseplay that can range from impromptu football games to prancing about with people in animal and devil costumes. If you've recovered, it might be time for a refresher course. Family Nouveau, a new documentary that follows Kevin Barnes and his merry band of freaks during their 2009 tour of Europe, will screen this Saturday at the Project Lodge, nicely jammed into a bill that already includes Madison bands All Tiny Creatures and Jivas. [Full disclosure: A.V. Club Madison contributor Joel Shanahan is a member of Jivas.] Spenser Simrill, the film's director and Of Montreal's fellow Athens, GA, resident, will be on hand, too. Expect plenty of show footage, plus backstage tips on Barnes' push-up regimen and the importance of staying moist.
