Our favorite clips from the dance mashup for Locksley’s “The Whip”
He's not really drunk, but you'd never know. It's called acting.
A dance mashup video accompanying Locksley’s inescapable “The Whip” by Ben Craw has been floating around the tubes for a little more than a week, so forgive us if you’ve already seen it. But, with the Madison natives set to perform at the Memorial Union Terrace July 28, it’s a good time to watch it again and again as you try to pick out the television and film being sampled. The A.V. Club has already pored over it a few times; here are our favorite inclusions.
- The quarter flying into the jukebox from Michael Jackson’s video for “Smooth Criminal.”
- An ever-so-brief clip of the unbelievable McDonald’s dance sequence in Mac And Me.
- Carl Weathers (as Apollo Creed) dancing to James Brown’s “Living In America” from Rocky IV.
- The Go-Go’s Jane Wiedlin (as Joan Of Arc) shoving an aerobics instructor in Bill And Ted’s Excellent Adventure.
- Drunk Jean-Claude Van Damme dancing in Kickboxer.
But enough about our favorites. Watch the video for yourself and tell us yours. Maybe you’ll actually recognize some of the older clips.
