As always, hip hop struggles along under most radars in Madison, but it seems to be making some progress lately. Local artists like DJ Pain 1 and Dumate have been pulling some impressive live sets, and Rob Dz recently sent Decider some new songs. We've seen some good recent shows from touring rap artists, from Juice to The Mighty Underdogs, and K'Naan and P.O.S. are on their way. The Daily Page has been taking a close look with its user's guide to local hip-hop (just posted a new entry today, in fact). There are also folks like Ox, who seems to pop up a little less frequently, but manages to put out solid hip-hop tracks all the same. Ox spent several years putting out albums and mixtapes and playing the ocassional show around Madison, but recently moved to the Twin Cities to attend the University of Minnesota. He's been working on two new albums, Death Of A Salesman and From Here To There, and recently put up a video, filmed in Madison, for his song "The Hustle":
