Madison's concert lineup could always use a few more nationally noted, stellar stand-up comedians, and Paul F. Tompkins has been on The A.V. Club's (and others') comedy-nerd wish list for a few years now. Thanks to a campaign in which Tompkins will book in any town that can round up 300 Facebook supporters for a show, he's firmed up a May 22 show at the Majestic Theatre. Tompkins' booming-loud suits, ability to command rambling riffs about drinking water even they've gone way off the edge of silly, and all-around incredible material (as showcased on the albums Impersonal and Freak Wharf) make this the comedy show we're most excited about this year so far.
