As if to tell Wisconsin thanks for the use of our Capitol and many warm-bodied extras, Michael Mann's film Public Enemies will arrive in Madison for a special party on June 30, the day before its theatrical release. According to some details Dane101 posted today, it'll be a two-part celebration of the Johnny Depp- and Christian Bale-starring flick about gangsters and coppers in the 1930s. First, there's a celebration at the Hilton Madison Monona Terrace, apparently "complete with red carpet, vintage cars, and a call for attendees to dress in the style of the period in which the movie is set." The actual screening is way out at Marcus Point Ultra Screen Cinemas at 8:30 p.m. According to D101's post, It costs $25 for the screening and $50 for both screening and reception, with tickets benefitting Film Wisconsin and Arts Wisconsin, two organizations who've worked to encourage people to make movies in Wisconsin.
