Sleeping In The Aviary makes whoopee in new video

Old Madison favorite Sleeping In The Aviary is set to follow up 2008’s terrific Expensive Vomit In A Cheap Hotel with a more tidy offering when Great Vacation! hits record stores and merch tables at the release party later this month.

In the video for the album’s first single, “Last Kiss On A Sinking Ship,” an older couple foregoes the struggle for survival during a shipwreck, amid engulfing paper waves and a fair amount of double entendres. Instead, the two opt to take cover in the crow’s nest, ostensibly for one last whoop-de-do. Hummina, hummina!

The song’s aesthetics are cleaner and more produced than the unhinged zeal of the band’s earlier work, but the final product retains the group’s penchant for capturing youthful optimism in unconventional perspectives. Which is to say, Great Vacation! is plenty worth getting excited about. [via Magnet]
