Just Announced Speed the plow to "Laura Ingalls Wilder Day"

More Just Announced

Wisconsinites love Wisconsin, and if there’s any excuse to celebrate anyone or anything from the state, we will absolutely do it. So maybe it stands to reason with Little House On The Prairie: The Musical opening Tuesday, Jan. 19 at the Overture Center, and starring Melissa Gilbert, Governor Jim Doyle has decided to proclaim Jan. 19 “Laura Ingalls Wilder Day.” Gilbert played Ingalls Wilder on the classic TV series of the same name, and Ingalls Wilder herself wrote the book that spawned the show. (Ingalls Wilder was born in Wisconsin before we lost her to Kansas, and later, the Minnesota dark side.) So what does this all mean, other than providing you an opportunity for a parochial fist-pump? We’re not totally sure. One suggestion would be to don a bonnet or churn some butter in show of solidarity for our favorite prairie belle.
