Stand By Your Stand: Grace Cheesecakes

This week's featured farmers'-market stand

Grace Cheesecakes Erika Janik

Bored of aimless browsing at Madison's popular farmers markets? In Stand By Your Stand, Decider heads out to find their best and strangest offerings, and tips on how to use them.

The source: Madison.

Wares: Innovative homemade cheesecakes cooked up with as many Wisconsin ingredients as possible. Flavors include apple crisp, Baileys Irish Cream, blueberry vanilla, eggnog, gingersnap, lime zinger, peanut butter cup, raspberry fudge ripple, turtle, and vanilla-vanilla. For the vegan and celiac crowd, many are available dairy- and gluten-free. You’ll also find cookies and bars.

Best deal: Bite-size mini-cheesecakes for $.85.

Weirdest item: Cheese-free cheesecakes. Is cheesecake still cheesecake if it doesn’t have any real cheese in it?

Serving suggestion: Owner Lori Christilaw has won plenty of awards for her cheesecakes since opening in 2006, so no matter which you pick, you're probably going to take home a winner. Try one of the seasonal flavors that include apple crisp, ginger pear, and rhubarb crisp. Or simply fill up on the generous sample tray at her stand.

Find it at: Dane County Farmers' Market, Saturdays, 6 a.m.-2 p.m., Capitol Square, through Nov. 7.
