Steve Martin at the Overture Center
The days of wild and crazy Steve Martin dancing like a maniac in a leisure suit with an arrow through his head have been gone for a long time. Anyone longing for the mildly offensive dumbass of movies like the The Jerk would probably have better luck finding a cup of pizza nowadays. But thankfully, the Steve Martin of mainstream dreck like Cheaper By The Dozen also won’t be present when the multi-threat performer takes the stage of the Overture Center on July 27 to bust out a bunch of banjo selections from his Grammy-winning The Crow: New Songs For The Five-String Banjo. Martin and his backing band The Steep Canyon Rangers can all really pick up a storm, so it should be a highly entertaining night. Just don’t expect him to play “King Tut.”
