More Just Announced

If there can be such a thing as a positive act of war, a Ted Leo And The Pharmacists show would be it. His dense, conflicted songwriting on four solidly awesome albums was one of the things in rock that got us through the Bush years without getting too smug or self-righteous. But as Leo himself once sang, it's the sonics, not the phonics, and it's all in the delivery—so we're expecting nothing less than his body-draining best when he returns to Madison for a Sunday, March 14 show at the High Noon Saloon, five days after the release of TL/RX's upcoming album The Brutalist Bricks. Yeah, The A.V. Club's just a bit tweaked right now, thinking of his last Madison show back in 2007 at the now-demolished Club 770. Take it from someone who has yet to be let down by Leo and band's tight playing and work ethic: This will rule. (Tickets go on sale Friday, Dec. 18.)
