Terrace's summer music schedule announced
Just last night, Decider was out on the Memorial Union Terrace watching a set from Horse Feathers, wondering what other bands were in line to play between the beer-sippers and the sailboats during the warmer months. Well, the Wisconsin Union Directorate Music folks just filled us in. The Terrace's lineup this summer has all the usual ingredients: Indie-rock highlights like the irrepressibly fun Ponytail (July 17, with Yeasayer) and Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band (June 19); usual Wisconsin subjects like Paul Cebar (June 26), Blueheels (Fourth of July), and Natty Nation (June 20); and funk and jam bands like Family Groove Company (July 18) and Phat Phunktion (Aug. 1). It gets more diverse when you consider the outlandish prog of Ozric Tentacles (June 11) and the annual Isthmus Jazz Festival the first weekend in June, headlined by esteemed Puerto Rican sax player David Sanchez. Check our Terrace page soon for the full lineup... with the fair warning that there are always at least a couple shows that get dropped, plus there might be a few other things in the works that aren't confirmed yet. Oh, and to express our general feelings about outdoor live music, here's Ponytail's "Beg Waves":
