The Beloit International Film Festival is better than its "BIFF" acronym suggests
Daydreaming about goat cheese.

Madison cinephiles have to wait until April for the Wisconsin Film Festival, but for the next couple of months, all hope is not lost. With nearly 100 filmmakers in attendance, and more than 150 films screening, the Beloit International Film Festival (Feb. 18-21) steps into the breach to ease the festival fits. And when it’s awful and freezing outside, taking a trip down south to watch a few movies is a whole lot less soul-crushing than a typical visit to Beloit. The anti-whaling doc, At The Edge Of The World, screens on opening day. It’s an environmental thriller that netted a 2009 selection at the Toronto Film Festival. For foodies, the quirky Artois The Goat is worth a look. The movie’s hero, Virgil, is an avid fan of artisan goat cheeses, but sells his soul (and palate) during the day by developing artificial cheese flavors for a faceless corporate monolith.
