The Books to play Madison on Nov. 30
More Just Announced
Genre-smashing found-sound wizards The Books will be taking their meticulously glitched-up geekery to the Majestic Theatre on Nov. 30, for what promises to be one of the most delightfully odd shows to hit town this fall. While the band's sound collages are often built around samples from members Nick Zammuto and Paul De Jong's massive collection of weird media, its performances are still very much live and loaded with projections, breathy vocals, and a textural collision of two bass guitars. With the follow-up to 2005's excellent Lost And Safe supposedly on the way, this will be the duo's first Madison show in an excruciatingly long time (assuming they ever actually stopped here in the first place). It's a long shot that The Books will be capable of filling the Majestic--the appeal is a bit esoteric, we admit--but we hope plenty of audio dorks emerge to bond over the show.
