Namecheck The Faith Hills Have Eyes

It’s been a while since our last Namecheck dispatch—but then again, it’s nearly been that long since we’ve seen a band name so face-punchingly awesome, so digestive system-throttling, that we’ve felt we needed to spend the space trying to deconstruct what makes said name that awful/awe-inspiring. But just when it seemed the Namecheck idea had run its course, along comes a band with a name so incredible that we want to shout it from the mountaintops: The Faith Hills Have Eyes.

That’s right, some brave souls here in Madison—members of Dissent And Revolt, Betray The Pharaoh, Unum Machina, and Used Future—have taken the Wheel Of Fortune “Before & After” category to band names, and instead of going with gimmes like “Pimp C-Murder” or “The Grateful Dead Kennedys,” rested upon a nom de rock that mashes up the name of a country singer and fourth female lead of The Stepford Wives remake with one of the most gruesome torture porn movies. The fact that one of the group’s songs is called “James Roll A Blunt” almost seems like overkill. That the band promises to “play every style of metal and rock, all in 5 songs” seems like a foregone conclusion. That The Faith Hills Have Eyes will melt down the Inferno July 22 is certain.
