Tom and Ben from Meteorade collaborate on a delightful Sing/le
Tom Teslik and Ben Knollenberg live together, work together (sort of, they’re both in the band Meteorade), and still like hanging together, even when they’re going it solo. So much so that they slapped both of their individual efforts into one nifty, free-to-download single called Sing/le. Teslik’s side, “Get To Know You Song,” is a messy, jangly guitar wash of a summer rumbler with sweet, unassuming lyrics about feeling better about yourself. Knollenberg’s side, “Tree Top To Forest: A Deadly Fall,” is an acoustic strummer atop found-sound percussion with no time for vocals. We only wish the whole thing was a little longer, but it goes nicely with a recent B-side EP Random Tandems from one of Teslik’s other bands, El-Tin Fun, that also has a new full-length called Sunburned Skeptics.
All this giving already, and to think, it’s just a warm up for the premier of the In The Kitchen music and creative collective at Project Lodge on Sunday. It’s a whopping six-hour meet-and-greet, music, and Thanksgiving-themed potluck event featuring Meteorade, El-Tin Fun, Coney Island, and Slow Loris that sounds like a lot of fun. So stock up on ITK-related tunes, and then go hang out with the folks who made it possible.
