UPDATE: Iron Maiden: Flight 666 rescheduled for takeoff
We're sorry, but this just doesn't cut it.
UPDATE: Decider just heard from Iron Maiden’s publicist that Iron Maiden: Flight 666 has been rescheduled for 8:00 p.m. on May 1 at Marcus Point UltraScreen Cinema. This good news takes the sting out of the disappointment of Tuesday night, which we outlined in the post below. Huzzah!
More than 100 restless and rowdy Iron Maiden fans gathered at Marcus Point UltraScreen Cinema last night for the one-night screening of Iron Maiden: Flight 666, only to have their metal hearts ripped out and boot-stomped by The Man. The proceedings got off to a rocky start when the pre-show “turn off your cell phones” previews were shown in a color that can be best described as Pepto-Bismol pink. This painful salmon hue continued to cast a pall on the theater as Winston Churchill’s iconic speech—the lead-in to “Aces High”—was piped in over shots of the band walking onstage.
The initial excited murmurs soon turned to more than a few shouted profanities as the house lights went up, and a theater worker came in and told everyone the problem stemmed from the fact that fucking Monsters Vs. Aliens 3D had played in the theater immediately prior. Details were sketchy, but apparently there was an issue in switching the projector over from 3D. After two or three aborted restart attempts, and a half hour of waiting, everyone was told they’d be issued a refund—which was no consolation when Ed Force One was on the docket.
No one from Marcus Point was able to say whether or not the show would be rescheduled, but Decider contacted Iron Maiden’s publicist, and she thought it might be a possibility. Needless to say, we were really worked-up for this and feel a tad disappointed. If you’d like to voice your displeasure directly to Marcus Theaters (perhaps inquiring as to how they weren’t prepared for this), you can do so here.
