More Weekend Agenda

You know it's going to be a cheerful weekend when the one new theater opening—Madison Theatre Guild's production of HOT L Baltimore at the Bartell—is set in a flophouse, where chuckles are known to be as contagious as bed-fleas. Those who don't settle in any one place in particular can still enjoy the comforts of good rocking and songwriting, though. The Getaway Drivers, who celebrate a new EP Friday at the High Noon, are equal parts country and adult-contempo, and Honor Among Thieves return to the Harmony Bar on Saturday with a wonderful blur of funk and aggression. Friday also marks the birthday of a once-censored hip-swiveler named Elvis and an often-cross-dressed fellow named David Bowie, and The Gomers will pay homage to both during Friday's Slappy Hour Variety Show at The Frequency. And hey, if you just don't belong anywhere, ever, at all, that's what The Rocky Horror Picture Show's traditional midnight screenings are for; catch one Saturday at the Majestic Theatre. Whether you're a misfit or not, you need one or two in your life, so help out a local folks who don't have health insurance with a Sunday afternoon benefit show at the High Noon, featuring Madison bands The United Sons Of Toil and The Pointy Birds.
