Yo La Tengo to play Madison on Jan. 23

Pretty soon, Madison rocker-nerds of all ages and stripes will be praying for the hellacious wastes of winter 2010 to go ahead and get here already. Already prepared to convene at February's sold-out Wilco show, they can get together a little earlier to see another band with adventurous yet general appeal: Yo La Tengo, playing a Saturday, Jan. 23 show at the Barrymore Theatre behind the recently released Popular Songs (which scored an A- rating from The A.V. Club's own Keith Phipps). Like that Wilco show, it'll probably sell fast once tickets go up on Friday morning.
