Local modern-rock station WJJO throws some pouting dudes into in Santa's lap this weekend with two nights of alt-rock that could add up to a mini version of its annual Band Camp summer festival. Friday features Soil's metal-tinged scavenging of grunge, which does a decent job of alternating between thrashing grooves and mid-tempo, Alice In Chains-style numbers on 2009's Picture Perfect. Saturday headliners Nonpoint have also spent a decade trudging through the perilous mainstream hard-rock landscape in somewhat redeemable fashion, though with more rap-metal detours.
