Bell Monks, Weather Duo, and Layfigure at Project Lodge
Combining the minimalism of Brian Eno’s ambient work with the gloomy songwriting of Low, Madison's Bell Monks create melodic arrangements that often float upon a single idea—whether it’s the swinging pulse of “A Collar And A Chain” or the gentle New Age rhythms of “(I Hear) Stones”—and build upon said idea with quiet waves of baritone vocal hooks and meandering chord progressions on both keys and guitar. The Project Lodge should make a fine host for the quartet’s hushed dynamics.
