The Bouncing Souls, Bayside, and Broadway Calls at Majestic Theatre
They may have named themselves after an advertising tagline for Dr. Martens, the world’s premier shit-kicking boots, but the New Jersey punks in Bouncing Souls have always been more interested in melody than bloodletting. Lyrically, too, the band is focused on observation rather than rabble-rousing—but while its lyrics dissect, analyze, and occasionally skewer the punk scene, the group remains very much ensconced within it. Now out on their 20th-anniversary tour, the Souls have been releasing one new song per month this year, presumably in preparation for an album to follow 2006's The Gold Record.
