Brew And View: Beer Wars + Pale Young Gentlemen at Majestic Theatre
A film that's sure to have locals hooting "Amen!" time and again as the small guys come out looking good, the recent documentary Beer Wars charts the competition behemoths like Anheuser-Busch face from each other and craft brewers like Dogfish Head. Director Anat Baron digs into the industry to find out just how ruthless the going can get. Craft brewers struggle to retain their independence, and the big guys pull some ludicrous moves. (In one scene, we learn that Anheuser-Busch took Dogfish Head to court for using beer names that were "too generic.") Wisconsin microbrewery Furthermore Beer's two-man staff will host a Q&A after the film, and, as a bonus, local band Pale Young Gentlemen follows up with a set.
