Buried Future and Angelic Viscera at The Wisco-dupe, do not use.

Madison death-metal band Buried Future’s 2009 album, Symphony Of Unnecessary Surgery, paces its blastbeats and dizzy-drill guitars with enough patience and complexity to justify taking all its songs past the six-minute mark. Vocalist David Labdez growls out sprawling lyrics about apathetic college students and the economy (“Tertiary Thrust”), existential philosophy (“Ad Nauseum”), and the medical industry (“Point Of Incision”). Even when the lead guitar just seems to be running up and down a weird scale on the intro to “Act Of Sedition,” it locks together with the drums and creates a suspenseful, tempo-warping effect. The group still sounds young, but it also has a firm grasp on a genre that most bands can’t keep up with.
