Butch Walker And The Black Widows and Locksley at Majestic Theatre
Butch Walker has always been willing to tailor his look and sound to the music of the moment, but unfortunately the moment has always seemed just a little past him. His hair-metal band SouthGang hit just a little too late for solid butt-rock like “Tainted Angel” to really have an impact, and his buzz-bin-ready pop-rock group Marvelous 3 probably deserved to have its legitimately hooky “Freak Of The Week” turn into a mega-hit. Now in his Ryan Adams/Wilco phase, Walker may be a little less catchy and radio-ready, but he still managed to round out this year’s I Liked It Better When You Had No Heart with plenty of light, likable folk rock and even a little self-deprecation on tracks such as “She Likes Hair Bands.” Joining Walker is Madison native Locksley, playing behind its latest release of tight, jangly, '60s-style pop, Be In Love.
