The members of The Church were already alt-rock vets by the time they had a hit with “Under The Milky Way,” which makes their continued existence two decades years later that much more impressive. The three main guys—Steve Kilbey, Marty Willson-Piper, and Peter Koppes—are present and accounted for, and while they’ve never been able to match the creative or commercial heights of 1988’sStarfish, they continue to make melodically moody records that their fans highly anticipate, including their latest, Untitled #23. The group's current acoustic tour celebrates The Church's 30th anniversary with an unusual conceit: The band will choose one song from each of its albums then play them in reverse chronological order. On top of that, each ticket holder receives a copy of Deadman's Hand, an EP from Untitled #23 that features unreleased material.
