Daedelus and Nosaj Thing at Majestic Theatre
Not unlike Caribou (a.k.a. Dan Snaith), Alfred “Daedelus” Darlington crafts and impossible-to-pigeonhole mélange of electronica, experimental music, and indie rock. But where Caribou zigs into pop, Daedelus zags into hip-hop. Darlington has collaborated with underground rappers such as Busdriver and Paperboy—the latter guesting in Daedelus’ 2008 disc, Love To Make Music To—by providing loosely wound batches of whirring, bubbly beats and instrumentation. Darlington still has a knack for hooks, though, as evidenced by his moonlighting gig in the giddy outfit The Long Lost with his wife, Laura.
