Dead Meadow, Imaad Wasif, and Sleepcomesdown at RSR Stage
A slow-minded band big into the likes of Blue Cheer and The Groundhogs, Dead Meadow cooks up a stew of murky psychedelia and bluesy metal. After a couple of unremarkable full-lengths released by Tolotta (the imprint of Fugazi’s Joe Lally), the band found its voice on its 2003 Matador debut, Shivering King And Others. The follow-up, Feathers, drifted too far into the mellower end of aimlessness, but 2008's Old Growth marked a welcome return to languid gravity and creeping atmosphere. A full-length film—featuring live footage and tripped-out dream scenarios—and accompanying soundtrack, called Three Kings, drops in early April.
