Del The Funky Homosapien, Bukue One, Weapons Of Mass DeFunktion, and Rob DZ at Majestic Theatre

Del The Funky Homosapien may have made his biggest impact in 1991, dropping the giddy good vibes and at times bathroom-level humor of I Wish My Brother George Was Here into a genre then dominated by gangsta rap, but the past few years have been just as productive. He signed to Definitive Jux for the 2008 solo album Eleventh Hour; put out a few free or cheap web albums and singles via Bandcamp; and paired with New Jersey rapper Tame One for the 2009 collaborative release Parallel Uni-Verses. This, combined with the free shows he's been doing lately, suggest Del has as much enthusiasm as ever for hip-hop that's equally old-school and idiosyncratic.
