The Dials, His And Her Vanities, The Descendaints, Screamin' Cyn Cyn And The Pons, The Hemlines, and Mad Trucker Gone Mad at High Noon Saloon
As usual, the High Noon's New Year's Eve show is the clearest choice for Madison's assorted rawk-loving folk, though that means something a little different for each band. Screamin' Cyn-Cyn And The Pons' screechy punk-pop and kinky, comical stage antics threaten to upstage just about everyone, though Chicago's The Dials always put a fierce live presence behind their girl-claws-boy's-face garage-pop explosions. The Descendaints are a local band that covers the songs of legendary L.A. punk band Descendents, and The Hemlines showcases the songs of Madisonian power-pop vets Erika Zar and Alex Fulton. His And Her Vanities' cleverly twisted new-wave songs became more thoughtful and mature on 2009's The Mighty Lunge, but the band's jagged, interlocking guitar parts and tossing-turning drums take on extra liveliness onstage.
