Digital Leather, The Dinks, and Screamin' Cyn Cyn And The Pons at High Noon Saloon
Buddy Holly’s 1958 studio sessions were thought to be his final recordings; that is, until decades later when his homemade “apartment tapes” were discovered. Arizona’s Digital Leather has the same lo-fi origins as the bedroom project of Shawn Foree, who’s been creating post-punk for synth lovers since the early ’00s. He may have graduated to working in a studio—look for his newest, Warm Brother, out this fall—but Digital Leather proves that the more technology advances, the more rock ’n’ roll stays the same.
