The Disco Biscuits, Ott, and Orchard Lounge at Wisconsin Union Theater
The tersely named one-man UK act Ott is one of a rising breed of electronica artists who seem equally at home in clubs and in the rave-meets-jam atmosphere of outdoor music festivals like Wakarusa, where he played earlier in his current tour. His instrumental productions have a similar reach, eagerly exploring the sounds of chilly trip-hop and dense, rhythmic dub, sometimes sliding between reggae beats and ambient interludes in a single track. And judging from such releases as last year’s Skylon, there’s a bit more going on here than instant groove-ification—well, there is plenty of that, of course, but also plenty of spacey layers to keep it intriguing.
