New York's DJ Rekha has been through Madison so many times in the past couple of years that even this show's promoters joked she might as well get an apartment here. Even so, it's hard to imagine getting worn out anytime soon on what she spins during her frequent visits: the Indian-rooted bhangra sound she's pioneered during more than a decade of her Basement Bhangra nights in New York. It's a bright, melodic sound that blends organically with the hip-hop and dub influences she adds. It's not only sonically diverse, but also provides huge, gooey grooves for what's pretty much a semi-regular Madison dance party by now.
