Funk Out Cancer Benefit at Majestic Theatre
This benefit bill of funk-minded local musicians has a bit more of a poignant personal connection than your average fundraiser. Not only will the bands send all the proceeds to go fund UW Health cancer research, they're also honoring the final wish of Madisonian Catherine Falaschi, who died of colon cancer not two years after marrying Al Falaschi, sax player of headlining band Phat Phunktion. In the spirit of celebrating rather than mourning, the show also includes Madison's New Orleans jazz institution Mama Digdown's Brass Band and singer-songwiter Mark Croft.
