Gossip and MEN at Majestic Theatre
It’s hard to talk about Gossip and not get sidetracked on its no-holds-barred frontwoman Beth Ditto. The LGBT activist and fashion favorite has established herself as a budding cultural icon in recent years, but Ditto’s rising fame hasn’t affected her band's musical output or quality. The Washington trio’s electro-punk has evolved from a ragged aesthetic on its 2001 debut, That’s Not What I Heard, to this year’s more refined, Rick Rubin-produced Music For Men, which still manages to get dirty with a garage-y, post-punk edge. Opening act Men re-teams JD Samson and Johanna Fateman of Le Tigre in a remix project, but the latest, strangest news is that Samson and her Le Tigre bandmates are collaborating with pop megastar Christina Aguilera on her new album.
