Guster has shared fans and stages with artists like Dave Matthews, Widespread Panic, and the like, but its adult contemporary jangle-rock isn’t as crusty as the company it keeps. It is, however, equally earth-friendly: Guster has been touring on biodiesel-powered buses and using recent shows to “educate fans” about the environment. If that sounds like a barrel of laughs, take a spin through the recently released Easy Wonderful, which is apparently all about “new fatherhood.” Soul revivalist Eli “Paperboy” Reed will spare the crowd any life lessons, instead opting for some heavily derivative, highly danceable rhythms in the vein of classic Motown.
